There is a markup and several important hearings focused on
offshore drilling tomorrow in the House and Senate that we wanted to make sure
you knew about.
-- Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will
consider (markup) the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, S. 3516 to reform the
management of energy and mineral resources on the outer continental shelf. June 30 at 9:30 am in Dirksen
-- House Subcommittee on Energy and Environment will hold a
hearing entitled “Respond to the BP Oil Spill and to Prevent Future Oil Well
Blowouts.” Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in 2322
RHOB
-- House Natural Resources Committee will hold a hearing
looking at state planning for offshore energy and the performance of MMS with
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and others. June
30 at 10 am in 1324 LHOB
-- Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
will hold a hearing entitled Deepwater Horizon tragedy, focusing on holding
industry accountable. June 30 at 10 am in 253

As you can see, Wednesday is going to be hectic. Pew has
several experts on the spill, the effect this disaster is having on marine life
in the gulf and other aspects of offshore drilling including Marilyn Heiman. Marilyn testified last week on the need to reform the
Outer Continental Shelf Reform Act before the Senate Energy and Natural
