Crawfisher Drew Landry Sings to Oil Spill Commission

"The White House oil spill commission got some advice in an unexpected form this week: a stirring folk song from a Louisiana native who pushed those assembled to 'just do the right damn thing.'

During a public comment period toward the end of the commission's Monday meeting, Drew Landry, a native of Lafeyette, Louisiana and a Cajun singer-songwriter of some renown, told the commissioners that the army of contractors brought in to clean up the oil flooding the gulf are largely wasting the region's limited financial resources."

"Jimmy Buffett says Gulf Coast residents have every right to be mad about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, but he's hoping a free beach concert will help lift spirits. Buffett and his band will play Sunday on the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala., which has been sporadically hit by oil for weeks. The show was originally set for last week but had to be postponed because of bad weather from Hurricane Alex. "Judge Martin Feldman Releases Investment Report, Raising More Questions"

"U.S. District Court Judge Martin Feldman owned stock in ExxonMobil, which has two oil exploration projects in the Gulf of Mexico that have been delayed by the deepwater drilling moratorium, but sold his shares the same day he ruled on the issue. Last week Feldman overturned the deepwater drilling moratorium that the Obama administration put in place after the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion, and ignited a fire storm among critics, who realized that he had many investments in energy stocks.
